The Prestige system has been an iconic mechanic in CoD for decades and it’s made its glorious return in MW3, but players may need to apply a little bit of patience before it’s time to grind all those levels again.
In MW3, you can level up both your weapons and your own personal level by completing matches, getting kills, and pursuing objectives. Compared to early CoD games, the Prestige system has changed drastically over the years.
Before you hit max level, here’s what you need to know about how to Prestige in MW3.
How does the Prestige system work in MW3?
MW3’s Prestige levels began in season one, which started on Dec. 6, 2023. Once season one began, players could rank up past level 55. Now, the levels are reaching high into the multiple hundreds.
The Prestige system in MW3 follows that of the previous few games. After you hit the max level in MW3, level 55, you should be automatically rolled into seasonal Prestige levels. Each season should add additional Prestiges and levels.
For example, Modern Warfare 2’s max level cap was 1,250 after adding Prestige throughout the year, so players can expect the level max to reach around there in MW3, too.
How to Prestige in MW3
Once your journey in MW3 begins, at level 56 you will enter the first Prestige automatically by playing and leveling up, and each additional season adds extra Prestige levels. With each Prestige being 50 individual levels, there’s plenty to grind each season.
What is the max level in MW3?
Currently, the max level in season two of MW3 is 650. Like in MW2, the range for each Prestige tier in MW3 can be seen below, along with the rewards for hitting each Prestige level:

Unlike earlier CoD games, you will not lose all your gear and equipment once you Prestige in MW3. Instead, you will get to keep the rewards you have earned so far and can unlock new cosmetic rewards by entering a new Prestige. This appears to be the new standard for CoD games.
No matter how the mechanic has changed, it is universal among CoD players that the Prestige icons are still some of the most sought-after emblems in the game, and MW3’s are no different.
