During the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 eSports Reveal, one of the most exciting additions David Vonderhaar mentioned was the Live Event viewer, which would allow players to watch competitive Call of Duty streams directly from the game interface. This particular feature is something that hardcore fans had been pushing for because it would make it easier for casual Call of Duty fans, of which there are millions across the world, to access the eSports scene.
Unfortunately, the Live Event viewer was not available upon release of Black Ops 3. It first made an appearance for Playstation 4 users a few weeks back for the highly anticipated matchup between Faze and Optic Gaming in the Call of Duty World League, but some users experienced issues and the feature was taken down soon after. Now, the Live Event viewer has been officially released on Playstation 4.
In their
3/1/2016 update notes, Activision stated,
“Added a Live Event viewer to allow Players to watch the Call of Duty World League games from the Main Menu.”
Charlie Intel reported that the Live Event viewer would only be available on the Playstation 4, the console on which the Call of Duty World League plays. On top of being used for the CWL, the feature will also be used for live streams such as Game with Developers and Treyarch’s studio stream, according to Activision.
