The Call of Duty World League is headed to Canada next month.
Northern Arena will host its first official Call of Duty LAN event in association with the CWL this December, the tournament organizer announced earlier today.
The Northern Arena Showdown will take place from Dec. 16 to 17 at the Imperial Theatre in Montreal, Canada. The tournament will feature an eight team double-elimination bracket, and teams will be competing for their share in a $30,000 prize pool and 15,000 pro points.
Four of the eight teams for this event will be invited, while the other half of the squads will be determined based on their performance at the CWL Dallas Open, which is scheduled to take place Dec. 8 to 10.
“If a team who has been invited finishes in the top four of CWL Dallas, then the next team in the CWL Dallas Open final rankings will obtain the qualification spot,” Northern Arena’s announcement reads. “If there is a tie between two teams at the CWL Dallas Open, the team with the higher amount of CWL Pro Points will qualify for the Northern Arena Showdown.”
Although the prize pool might not seem like much, the Northern Arena Showdown will provide another opportunity for teams to gain pro points in an effort to qualify for the CWL Pro League—which begins Jan. 23. The winning team will earn 5,000 pro points, according to MLG’s Adam Apicella.
December already promises to be a thrilling month of Call of Duty action, and the Northern Arena Showdown will add to that excitement following the CWL Dallas Open.
