Seth “Scump” Abner, Ian “Crimsix” Porter, Sam “Octane” Larew, and Anthony “Methodz” Zinni kicked off CoD Champs 2018 with two wins. They took down Elevate 3-1 on Wednesday and swept Supremacy in their first match on Thursday.

But in their second series today, OpTic ran into Patrick “ACHES” Price and Evil Geniuses. ACHES is known for eliminating the Green Wall from CoD Champs—and that’s exactly what he did today.

After losing to Elevate earlier today, ACHES, Bryan “Apathy” Zhelyazkov, Adam “Assault” Garcia, and Justin “SiLLY” Fargo-Palmer needed a big victory over OpTic to keep their own CoD Champs hopes alive.

Evil Geniuses opened up their showdown with OpTic by taking Gibraltar Hardpoint 250-205. They followed this up with a 6-3 win on Ardennes Forest Search and Destroy. With a 2-0 series lead, Evil Geniuses secured the sweep with a strong second half on Ardennes Forest Capture the Flag, leading to a 2-1 victory in map three.

This crushing loss eliminated OpTic from this year’s $1.5 million tournament—the Green Wall finished 2-1 alongside EG and Elevate, but their slightly-lower winning percentage cost them in the end.

The WWII season has been full of disappointment for OpTic Gaming fans. But after winning CoD Champs last year, Green Wall fans are likely devastated that their favorite team is heading home early from the biggest event of the year.
