What is the Beamsmasher? New Black Ops 6 Zombies Wonder Weapon, explained

Time to smash some zombies.

The Call of Duty Zombies experience wouldn’t be the same without Wonder Weapons. While most longtime players should be familiar with the Ray Gun, individual maps often feature their own unique Wonder Weapon, too. And that trend will continue in Black Ops 6 Zombies with the Beamsmasher.

What we know about Black Ops 6 Zombies Beamsmasher Wonder Weapon so far

The Beamsmasher is the first Wonder Weapon teased for Black Ops 6 Zombies. It sounds like the Beamsmasher may be unique to Terminus, one of the two round-based CoD Zombies maps available at the launch of Black Ops 6.

“Visually, the Beamsmasher is comparable in size and shape to a light machinegun and features a single barrel emitting a super-charged and incredibly damaging Aetheric beam,” Activision said. “Set around the barrel are Resonator Focus flaps that direct the energy created by the weapon. The weapon is reloaded by swapping out the side-mounted DAPP canister.”

The Beamsmasher is also described as “an experimental powerhouse with three unique damage types.” Additionally, Activision says it has two firing modes. The primary fire mode “fires a solid beam of Aetheric energy, causing organic matter to break down at the molecular level,” while the secondary fire mode features “focused soundwaves [that] cause the molecules of multiple enemy targets to vibrate at alarmingly fast rates.”

Based on these descriptions and the brief gameplay clips we’ve seen so far, the Beamsmasher reminds me a bit of the RAI K-84 from Black Ops Cold War’s Firebase Z map. The RAI K also had two fire modes, and although they aren’t exactly alike, the Beamsmasher has a similar appearance, in my opinion.

If the Beamsmasher is anywhere close to as powerful as the RAI K—or my other favorite Wonder Weapons from Cold War Zombies, the CRBR-S and the Chrysalax—it’ll be a ton of fun to use once Black Ops 6 is released on Oct. 25.
