Treyarch has officially revealed gameplay straight out of Black Ops 3. The reveal trailer is a short, two minute video showcasing some of the new mechanics in the game and can be found below.

Black Ops 3 will be the next title in the Call of Duty franchise, a sequel to some of the most popular games in the minds of players worldwide. When it comes to competitive Call of Duty, Black Ops 2 set the tone for all future games, and many were hoping that the reveal trailer would give solid clues to how the new game will cater to that aspect. Unfortunately, there is only so much information a two minute video can give, so there are still many questions left unanswered.

In the current title, Advanced Warfare brought a new element to Call of Duty: exo suits. The exos allow for quick movements and double jumps, as well as mid-air thrusts. This has brought around a mixture of praise and disdain, as competitive players think that the exo suits change the game too much and produce a small skill gap, as well as make game types such as Search and Destroy less relevant. Many players, such as Nadeshot, have voiced their opinions on the matter, calling for a “classic” Call of Duty in Black Ops 3.

The reveal trailer is short, but it has certainly shown that Black Ops 3 will have some unique movements. The trailer shows a bit of gameplay from the campaign, which as a rule always features mechanics that are not available in multiplayer mode. Either way, the trailer reveals that guns can be shot underwater. It then shows the player leaping out of the water, or immediately after climbing a ledge, and firing a unique hand weapon into an enemy, then quickly pulling out a machine gun. Are these the new “momentum” movements that some sources have leaked about the game?

If anything, the trailer is revealing the theme of the game. The narrator says, “Weapons don’t have instincts, weapons don’t have loyalty, weapons don’t have judgement. Soldiers do. What happens when the soldier becomes the weapon? How far can we push technology before it starts pushing back?”

This indicates that the enemy in the future are the robots that humans created with ever-advancing technology. The robots seem to have a mind of their own and are “pushing back”. Will multiplayer be humans vs robots as a result?

The game will be released on November 6th, but an online multiplayer beta will be available to those who pre-order. It will be released on the new-gen consoles (Xbox One, Playstation 4) and PC, but there is no indication of it being released for the 360 or Playstation 3. A sneak peak at zombies was also shown, indicating that a zombies mode will likely be available in the main game at launch and not just in a DLC.

Other things seen in the trailer:

  • A character straight out of Assassins Creed (not intentionally of course)
  • Robot enemies
  • Giant robot tanks
  • Futuristic vehicle running over enemies
  • A player thrust jumping to the roof of a building
  • Male and female characters
  • Exo punches?
  • Enemy robot in ball form
