Modern Warfare 3’s “Carry Forward” program ballooned the game’s massive roster of weapons by including guns from the previous year’s Modern Warfare 2. But will it be a franchise standard moving forward?

Black Ops 6 is next on deck for the CoD franchise. The return to the Black Ops series has been long awaited after the release of Black Ops Cold War in 2020, and many will get to try it out on day one when it launches on Game Pass. BO6 will once again feature real-world figures, such as Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Margaret Thatcher, Colin Powell, and Saddam Hussein, so the story is definitely going to be intense.

Jumping from the MW series to Black Ops again means several things, but one thing that’s on players’ minds everywhere is if BO6 will also include “Carry Forward,” so that players can keep their purchases from the previous two titles.

Now that the BO6 beta has been played and players are looking forward to the future, naturally, gamers everywhere are wondering if the hundreds of dollars they spent in MW3 will continue to be displayable in BO6.

Here’s everything we know so far about MW2 and MW3 skins transferring to BO6.

No, MW3 and MW2 skins will not carry forward to Black Ops 6, but they will continue to be usable in Warzone.

Since the two previous MW games were so closely connected, it made sense to make everything available in MW3. But now that the franchise is shifting back to Black Ops, BO6 will be a fresh start, at least when it comes to multiplayer.

“We want to make sure that everybody starts fresh, together, as we move into an all-new experience with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,” Activision said on June 9. “Allowing everyone to experience the Black Ops universe the way it’s meant to be played, learning the era-specific weapons and gear, learning the gameplay innovations like Omnimovement, and keeping that signature Black Ops style is important. Therefore, MW2 and MW3 content will not carry forward to the Black Ops 6 Premium experience.”

There is just one exception to this rule: the Woods Operator Pack pre-order bonus for BO6. Woods and the three Woods operator skins will continue to be available in MW3 and Carry Forward to BO6.

BO6 weapons and more will be integrated into Warzone in BO6 season one, which does not have a confirmed date yet, but will likely come at the end of November or beginning of December 2024, while MW3’s season six is set to begin on Sept. 18.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on Oct. 25, 2024, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam or Battle.net.
