Ryan “fREAKAZOID” Abadir is a member of Cloud9, which ran all the way to the finals of the first season of the ESL ESEA Pro League. As the last-standing American team, many US fans had high hopes that Cloud9 could finally unseat Europe from its long-standing position on top of the game’s pro scene. Unfortunately, they fell 1-3 to European side Fnatic.

“Anything you gamble, be prepared to fucking lose. So you know what? Fuck you.”

That news, however, is of little comfort to those that bet money and weapon skins on the match. Global Offensive has a large gambling scene as a result of the Arms Deal update, which added weapon skins to the game. Players began betting these weapon skins against the results of pro games, and the game’s fan base skyrocketed.

The popularity of the game’s gambling scene grew so big that it even began to affect the pros. In January, the Daily Dot reported on evidence of a large match-fixing ring at the highest levels of American Counter-Strike. The ensuing scandal saw a large shift in how pros acknowledged the betting scene.

Unfortunately, that does little in dissuading some from unleashing their anger in the wake of a lost bet. For fREAKAZOID, that meant angry tweets and messages in his Twitch channel’s chat room from fans that had bet on him and lost.

In the middle of streaming a few games, fREAKAZOID let loose on a few of those angry fans.

“I don’t give a fuck about your skins, and fuck anyone who lost their skins, that gets mad at C9 and calls us shitty,” he says. “We lose one fucking map. You guys get mad ’cause we lose, ’cause you’re betting your fucking skins, so you have a gambling problem.”

It’s a reasonable—if expletive-laden—message.

“Anything you gamble, be prepared to fucking lose. So you know what? Fuck you.”
