Mibr, the legendary Brazilian Counter-Strike 1.6 team that won multiple international championships in 2006 and 2007, officially announced its return to the professional scene today.
The Mibr brand is now a property of North American esports organization Immortals, which had Brazilian CS:GO players under its banner in 2017. Mibr will be holding a live event later this month to announce its new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster.
Several rumors and reports from Brazilian and international websites have claimed for months that the SK Gaming roster will likely join Mibr. Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, Marcelo “coldzera” David, Ricardo “boltz” Prass, Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, and Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip should be the names announced at the event.
The official roster announcement will take place on June 23 at Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo. There are tickets on sale for the event.
If the rumors are confirmed and SK Gaming players join Mibr, the players at Não Tem Como should join SK Gaming right after. The rumors indicate that the two roster announcements should occur shortly after each other.
Immortals, led by Noah Winston, has already had a Brazilian Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster. The squad started falling apart when some of the players asked to leave the organization in September 2017. The core trio of Henrique “HEN1” Teles, Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles, and Lincoln “fnx” Lau were then bought out by 100 Thieves in December 2017. Immortals still have the rights for boltz, who is on loan to SK Gaming, while other former stand-ins are now spread among Não Tem Como and Luminosity Gaming.
The Mibr brand dominated the Brazilian and international Counter-Strike 1.6 scene and beat famous teams such as Fnatic, which already Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg on its roster, and the Swedish lineup that started the legacy of SK Gaming.
If FalleN, coldzera, and fer really join Mibr, the returning organization will start its story in CS:GO with players who are also world champions. The trio has won two majors and several international competitions, such as DreamHack, ESL, and Intel Extreme Masters events since 2016.
