OpTic Gaming picked up an entirely new roster last week, and the effects of its acquisition is still coming back to haunt it.
The organization’s slot in the North American ESL Pro League may be in jeopardy because of the team’s Europe-based players. ESL ruled earlier today that OpTic’s team must physically compete in North America and give proof that they can continue to play in the region. If it fails to do both, the organization will relinquish its license to compete in the Pro League.

ESL’s league administration is requiring OpTic to play at least 10 games in the North American region and provide a documented plan that allows them to do so. They have until Aug. 31 to submit their plan to the League.
The news comes days after OpTic added Adam Friberg, Emil “Magisk” Reif, and Aleksi “allu” Jalli to their active lineup. The trio joined Oscar “mixwell” Canellas and Keith “NAF” Markovic, but NAF will be sent to the bench after week one of the ESL Pro League. OpTic’s incoming fifth has not been announced yet.
OpTic also lost their spots at DreamHack Masters Malmö and the 2017 ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier earlier this week due to their new additions. This happened because the organization didn’t retain three of the original five players invited to both events.
Hopefully things will start to look up for the Green Wall soon.
