Streamer Hyphonix was unbanned from Twitch late last night. The IRL streamer had been banned from indefinitely since late May 2018 and apparently was unbanned with no previous notice last Monday night.

Several of Hyphonix’s fans who still followed him on his YouTube livestreams watched his return on Twitch. A few clips show that the ban lifting was unexpected. “I can’t believe any of this,” he said in the first minutes of his Twitch stream. He has also confirmed he’s moving from YouTube to streaming on Twitch full-time.

His return to Twitch wasn’t smooth, though. A few minutes after being unbanned, his channel was suspended once more by Twitch due to “evading a site-wide or channel suspension.” Even though this caused some stress, he was quickly unbanned after a Twitch staffer said his account was suspended due to a mistake on the part of the platform. He was quickly back online.

Hyphonix was a controversial streamer when he was on Twitch. He got several seven-day and one-month long suspensions after breaking the platform’s Terms of Service, such as when he took off his shirt and covered himself in sauce. This was classified as nudity by Twitch and got him a ban that did not allow him to even appear in the livestreams of fellow streamers with whom he lived at the time.

His permanent May 2018 ban came after he did a stream with a spinning wheel for each subscriber. Hyphonix would spin the wheel after each fan subscribed to his channel, and one of the possible results was making him take a drink. Hyphonix said Twitch interpreted this as if he was using alcoholic drinks as an incentive for subs, which led the company to ban him “permanently.” He moved to YouTube and has been streaming there since then.

Hyphonyx’s schedule after his return to Twitch has yet to be set. He occasionally streamed Clash Royale and Runescape in the past, but it’s likely that he’ll continue with his IRL streams interacting with friends.
