An NRG Esports and San Francisco Shock esports manager has been fired following sexual assault allegations.
Maxwell Bateman will no longer work with NRG Esports or its Overwatch League team after being accused of sexual assault by a Twitch streamer who goes by the name Krystlin Luna. Luna alleged that Bateman sexually assaulted her after a night out. The details of the assault are listed in a Twitlonger statement posted to Twitter by Luna.

“Sexual assault is a serious issue and an act of violence,” Luna wrote. “It’s more common than we think and some people are too scared or ashamed to say anything; or some people think nothing wrong happened because you were dating or best friends. People who had it happen to them shouldn’t be afraid of speaking up.”
NRG Esports CEO Andy Miller stepped in quickly after the allegations arose to publicly address Bateman’s work with the company. “In accordance with NRG Esports’ zero tolerance policy, Max Bateman will no longer be employed by the organization,” Miller wrote on Twitter.
Luna filed a police report following the incident, but was unable to press charges without additional proof or evidence, she wrote. Bateman has not responded to Dot Esports’ request to comment.
Update, Nov. 8 at 8:16am CT: Bateman has since posted his statement in a Twitlonger post denying Luna’s allegations.
