OpTic Gaming and social platform JET8 have launched an OpTic-branded community application called OpTic Snap. Using the social app, OpTic fans can share selfies and videos across a range of social media platforms, as well as interact with other fans and gain influence-based rewards.
Fans earn “JETS,” which is a currency that lets users redeem vouchers for OpTic merchandise. Players will be able to earn up to 20 percent off OpTic’s official merchandise, like hoodies, jackets, and shirts.
OpTic Snap is the Singapore-based company’s first esports community application.
“A platform like JET8 will be pivotal for us to develop fan engagement throughout the eastern hemisphere,” OpTic Gaming international development manager Jesal Parekh said in a statement. “Our hope is that OpTic Snap will be a key platform for our now-global community to engage with each other. This is just the first of many initiatives to better serve our fans in the region.”
OpTic Snap is downloadable in the Google Play store for Android users now. It’ll be available for iOS users “in the coming weeks.”
OpTic fields teams in Overwatch (Houston Outlaws), Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Call of Duty, Fortnite, League of Legends, Dota 2, and Gears of War. The North American organization has a massive fanbase that’s dedicated to OpTic teams and players. The fanbase, called the Green Wall, is a passionate, global group that supports OpTic’s esports teams.
“Esports fans are passionate about their favorite teams, and spend a huge amount of time creating and sharing social media content,” JET8 Foundation director Joshua Thomson said. “JET8 allows OpTic Snap to reward their fans for this support and turn them into paid micro-influencers, building a powerful community where both the brand and its fan share in value.”
