Riot Games will be partnering with the Special Olympics in order to help host the nonprofit organization’s first live stream-a-thon.
The goal of the stream is to help spread awareness about people with intellectual disabilities, and to try to create a fully inclusive world for all. Riot has a great platform to share the message, using “its passionate player base of 100 million+ gamers, access to creators and streamers, and the production expertise of its staff to help spread the word.”
The stream will be hosted by actor Max Carver, who has starred in multiple TV shows, such as HBO’s The Leftovers, MTV’s Teen Wolf, and ABC’s Desperate Housewives. He’ll be joining various Special Olympics athletes around Los Angeles to stream segments featuring gaming, cooking, and more.
The stream began at 1pm CT, and will continue broadcasting for eight hours. You can watch the stream on the Special Olympics’ YouTube and Twitch channels. You can also sign the Inclusion Pledge here.
