A few years ago, a little Twitch Chanel called Twitch Plays Pokémon launched to colossal success. The channel allowed anyone on the internet to play Pokémon Red together at the same time using Twitch chat to input commands.

This global phenomenon led to may other challengers picking up the “Twitch Plays” title over the years in hopes of replicating Twitch Plays Pokémon’s huge success.

Now, nearly five years after Twitch Plays Pokémon began, a new challenger has entered the ring— Twitch Plays Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

By watching the stream, viewers can work together to try to beat Ultimate’s adventure mode, World of Light, by typing controller inputs into Twitch chat.

Those inputs will be redirected to a custom made controller that will interact with the Switch game. The plan is, of course, to mow down tons of enemies and eventually defeat the final boss of the game.

The end goal is to unlock every character. After 24 hours, the community has already made it through a sizable part of the campaign— but there is still a long way to go.

If it has anything to do with Nintendo and Pokémon chances are you will see me talking about it, covering, and likely not sleeping while playing it.
