Two of the biggest Zelda speedrun titles had their world record beaten in a matter of hours.
The previous world record holders in both Majora’s Mask and Wind Waker HD both made significant improvements in their previous times to tighten their grips on the top of the leaderboards.
EnNopp112, the original holder of the Majora’s Mask any percent world record, beat his original time by just under 30 seconds to set a new personal best.
It was far from perfect, however. After being a minute ahead going into the final temple, a series of mistakes meant that EnNopp lost over 30 seconds while trying to getting the final mask.
As for Linkus7, he also managed to beat his own world record in Wind Waker HD twice in a single day. He first posted a new world record time of 1:04:36, but got it down to a 1:03:57 immediately after.
There is still room for improvement for both games moving forward. Both speedruns can still save two minutes in their games if they are able to do everything perfectly—and if luck is on their side. As new routes are discovered for both games, it might not be long until both Majora’s Mask and Wind Waker fall under the hour mark.
