If you aren’t afraid of drawing the Killer’s attention, here is everything you need to know about using the Object of Obsession Perk in Dead by Daylight.

In every DBD Trial, one Survivor is randomly assigned the role of the Obsession. Both the Killer and Survivors have perks that interact with the Obsession in unique ways, so it’s important to always know the Obsession’s identity. If you’re ever curious about who the Obsession is, just check out the UI on the left-hand side of the screen. The Survivor assigned as the Obsession will have two large claws surrounding their character portrait.

Object of Obsession is an information Perk that activates passively throughout the Trial, revealing the Killer’s aura whenever your own aura is revealed. While your aura is revealed, you gain a six percent increase to repairing, healing, and cleansing.

On top of this, the Perk increases your chances of spawning as the Obsession by 100 percent, ensuring that you can take advantage of the Perk’s added benefits. While you are the Obsession and you have this Perk equipped, your aura is automatically revealed to the Killer for three seconds every 30 seconds.

Since the Perk shows the Killer’s aura if your own aura is revealed, you’ll see the Killer’s location every 30 seconds throughout the trial. This not only boosts your actions for a short window of time, but also provides crucial information about the Killer’s whereabouts. It’s best utilized while playing with friends in a voice call since you can quickly shout out the Killer’s location to your teammates. Remember that your location is also revealed to the Killer, which can cause them to focus their attention onto you.

Object of Obsession is a hard counter to the Weave Attunement and Franklin’s Demise playstyle that many Killers popularized after the Dungeons and Dragons DLC. If you find yourself constantly queued against opponents using these two Perks, equipping Object of Obsession will permanently show the Killer’s aura around dropped items.
