Even though there might be high expectations for Valve’s newest third-person MOBA, Deadlock, there are still a few issues that players are dealing with on a relatively consistent basis, including some troublesome FPS problems.

Various users are reporting FPS issues while in-game, including gradual and drastic frame loss as a match plays out. These issues have affected players on different types of PCs and builds, which will frustrate those who know their machine is capable of running the game at high settings. There are, however, a few different solutions you can try to rectify any frame issues.

If you’ve been growing increasingly frustrated, here are some ways to fix low FPS in Deadlock.

Adjust settings before starting a match

To ensure you can run Deadlock on your PC, lower your graphic settings from the highest presets to more manageable settings for your machine.

Even if you have a high-end PC with good specifications, you might need to lower various graphic settings across the board so you won’t run into problems as a match rages on. Specifically, turn off or lower Screen Space AO, Distance Field AO, and Distance Field Shadows to see some significant increases in your performance.

Additionally, make sure your game is in full-screen mode because there have been reports of issues cropping up with any other mode while playing.

Verify game files or reinstall

If you think you’re suffering from a bug, you can also verify your game files through the Steam client. Head over to your games library, right-click on Deadlock, and select Properties. Find and select the Installed Files tab on the left-hand side of the new window and press the option to verify the integrity of your game files. If any problematic files are found, Steam will automatically replace and download them for you.

Be patient

Since Deadlock is still in development and its alpha testing phase, there’s a good chance the game still isn’t optimized for every type of machine and build. The developers should continue working on the problems and release patches, but players should also maintain realistic expectations for when these fixes will arrive.
