Vindicta should be Deadlock’s perfect marksman—and players know the exact changes she needs

The almighty carry has lost her sniping ability, and players now have new ideas to bring it back.

Vindicta is one of the most powerful carries in Deadlock, capable of taking down enemies from a distance with her trusty sniper rifle. But as players grew familiar with her, they noticed she’s not much of a sniper or marksman after all.

A Sept. 27 Reddit thread focusing on Vindicta‘s weapon being the second-shortest ranged gun in the game opened the floodgates of ideas aiming to fix Vindicta and turn her into the long-range marksman she’s supposed to be. “In my opinion, Vindicta’s gun just doesn’t fit her,” one user wrote, adding that “she should have a low capacity low fire rate high velocity high damage marksman rifle instead of an assault rifle.”

This idea was further expanded by another player, who said Vindicta could profit from having a weapon similar to the one used by Ashe in Overwatch 2, which is a Winchester lever-action with a long range and high damage.

As things stand, Vindicta plays similarly to some other carries in the game and doesn’t have many unique mechanics save for her long-range sniper ultimate that is probably the only spell she has that plays into her intended design as a long-range marksman. One user said how Lady Geist feels more like a sniper than Vindicta does, and they might be right. Geist can snipe you with her spells from a massive distance and, unlike Vindicta’s bullets, doesn’t have a massive damage drop-off that makes her borderline ineffective.

Valve continues to experiment with its current Deadlock hero roster and it’s likely that Vindicta, like most of the other heroes, will be changed significantly by the time the game launches. When and how those changes would come is anyone’s guess, but in an alpha-level game such as Deadlock anything is possible at any time.
