The last thing you need from Encore, hopefully.

The end of Destiny 2‘s Episode Echoes led guardians to find Temporal Anomalies in Encore: Coda—just when you thought you were free. These mysterious artifacts are bits and pieces of different versions of Maya Sundaresh and Chioma Esi, visible through the Vex simulations.

Temporal Anomalies feature as one of the several secrets in the Encore Exotic quest, including several hidden chests and the Choir of One Exotic auto rifle. If you venture into Encore, you can also find upgrades for the new Vex-inspired weapon, including new catalysts and a better intrinsic.

There are eight Temporal Anomalies in Destiny 2‘s Encore: Coda. Here’s where you can find them.

Where to find all Temporal Anomalies in Encore in Destiny 2

We made a quick summary of all the locations, but we also have a more detailed breakdown below. We found most of these on our own, but we consulted 360GameTV’s video to track the more elusive ones.

  1. In the wooded entrance area, by a cliff.
  2. In the area with the first Connection node puzzle.
  3. In the area with the Partition buff puzzle, the first Planetary Assimilation Piston, and the second secret chest in Encore: Overture.
  4. In the small laboratory with the Access and Connection puzzles, before the fight against the Tormentor and Subjugator.
  5. In the jungle just after the boss fight with the Darkness duo.
  6. In the first part of the old Ishtar village.
  7. In the second part of the old Ishtar village, before entering the portal.
  8. In the puzzle for the third secret chest in Overture.

First Temporal Anomaly location

Go all the way across the spawn to find some geometric ledges just below you. Drop down until you spot this Temporal Anomaly. It’s close to one of the nodes needed to deactivate the Conflux in Encore: Overture’s second secret chest.

Second Temporal Anomaly location

Reach the area with the puzzle that tasks you with using the green Connection nodes to unlock confluxes around the mission. The second Temporal Anomaly is just to the right of the final conflux.

Third Temporal Anomaly location

This is just before you spot the first Planetary Assimilation Piston, in the area with the Minotaur holding the Partition buff. From where you came in, look on the left side of the ground floor for another Temporal Anomaly.

Fourth Temporal Anomaly location

The fourth Temporal Anomaly is in the first lab-like area with the puzzle using the Access and Connection nodes, which tasks you with building two portals and connecting them. Once you’ve used the Access node to build the first portal and the Connection node to get close to the second, turn around to find this Temporal Anomaly on the right of the gate.

Fifth Temporal Anomaly location

After you’ve taken down the Tormentor and Subjugator duo, the game will lead you to a small jungle section before the second Planetary Assimilation Piston. Reach the jungle and walk a bit forward until the chat says “Data Node Vulnerable,” then look by the flora to your left to spot the glow of this Temporal Anomaly.

Sixth Temporal Anomaly location

Keep going until you’ve found the remains of a village and the second Planetary Assimilation Piston. A mob of Vex will ambush you, including a Hydra up in the air. This Temporal Anomaly spawns almost exactly below the Hydra, on the left side of the area from the entrance. You may spot this one during combat if the teleporting Minotaurs end up there.

Seventh Temporal Anomaly location

Move to the second part of the village where you face a Cabal Colossus and a Hydra firing at you alongside some minor Vex. Before entering the portal leading to the next zone, turn around. The Temporal Anomaly will be by a wall on the far side.

Last Temporal Anomaly location

The final Temporal Anomaly is at the end of the puzzle for the second hidden chest in Encore: Concerto, accessible from Maya Sundaresh’s lab. Interact with the Conflux there, then take the teleporter to the dark area. This Temporal Anomaly is just by the Partition node, making it easy to miss.

The reward for finding all eight Temporal Anomalies is the Before Aurora emblem. If you’re fond of the narrative, there’s also an audio message between Maya Sundaresh and Chioma Esi which takes a dark turn, knowing what happens in the campaign.
