There are plenty of options that may make these the go-to choice for Prismatic—even if you presumably can still use your old Exotics.

Where can I get Exotic class items in Destiny 2?
You can get your Exotic class item by completing the two-player Dual Destiny activity, which can be unlocked after defeating each Secret-Keeper of the Witch Queen following Overthrow activities.
While most of the community believed Exotic class items would drop from the Excision activity, Bungie surprised everyone by dropping another secret mission—this time, called Dual Destiny. As its name says, you need a second player to do this mission.
Starting Dual Destiny is a somewhat long process that involves doing Overthrow on each area and following a few clues, and the mission can be tricky at first. With enough practice, however, you can trim your time and get it done more quickly.
There’s also a rare chance of obtaining an Exotic class item from chests in the Pale Heart, but this isn’t as reliable as completing Dual Destiny.
Can I farm Exotic class items in Destiny 2?
Yes, Exotic class items are farmable by completing the Dual Destiny activity. This is a guaranteed drop each time. Each class item has eight traits on both columns, though, so it may take a bit to get a specific roll—but with so many possible combinations, you’re bound to get an arrangement that works. Best put those extra vault slots to use.
It is also possible to drop the Exotic class items in and around the Pale Heart, particularly after completing Overthrow activities; however, the drop rate is considerably low, so expect to run a fair few Overthrow activities before getting your hands on one there.
What do Exotic class items do in Destiny 2?
Exotic class items combine the effects from two Exotics, though generally with a smaller effectiveness compared to their base counterpart. This can mean shorter durations, smaller bonuses, or even cutting out parts of the Exotic’s effect entirely.
