Lightfall’s campaign in Destiny 2 ended with a cliffhanger and far fewer answers than when it began. Though the storyline caught some widespread flak, the developments after the campaign will take guardians all over Neomuna, showing them a few different quest lines that reward Exotic weapons. Neomuna also has a new public activity, Terminal Overload, which is a core part of the gameplay loop in the Neptune metropolis.
Terminal Overload zones rotate daily between Zephyr Concourse, Ahimsa Park, and Líming Harbor. Each zone brings its own Neomuna weapon, in addition to the ones players encounter during the Lightfall campaign. This activity is a consistent source of weapons and even Strand Meditations, which are used to unlock Strand Aspects and Fragments. Getting the most out of this activity requires some RNG, however, since you’ll need to loot and spend Terminal Overload Keys.
The post-campaign missions introduce players to Terminal Overload and its keys after they pick up the Stargazer quest, and guardians are bound to run this activity for some time if they’re looking to make the most out of it. Here’s how you can obtain Terminal Overload Keys in Lightfall.
Best ways to get Terminal Overload Keys in Destiny 2 Lightfall
Terminal Overload Keys have a chance to drop from activities in Neomuna. This includes patrols, public events, and, if you’re lucky, even Terminal Overload itself. If you’re high enough rank with Nimbus, the Cloud Strider offers a daily bounty that will drop you a Terminal Overload key, and its objectives may change between resets.
The best way to obtain Terminal Overload Keys is by finishing activities in Neomuna—but there’s a method to it. Whatever activity you’re running on Neomuna, be sure to always have a patrol active. Simpler patrols, such as killing enemies or collecting supplies, can be done while you’re finishing other objectives and should give you a decent amount of Neomuna reputation, Strand Meditations, and other resources.
You should also try doing Terminal Overload, making sure to always have a patrol on you or your fireteam. This method is similar to farming Vestiges of Dread in the Derelict Leviathan, and it’s easy to fit in multiple patrols during a run thanks to the high enemy density in the area. It’s less guaranteed than the Nimbus bounty, but it’s also limitless in theory.
Rewards for using a Terminal Overload Key
Spending a Terminal Overload Key grants guardians even more rewards than just opening the first chest. Terminal Overload Key chests have a chance of dropping the daily weapon from that Terminal Overload, which becomes a guarantee if you have the corresponding upgrade with Nimbus. You’ll also get 100 Strand Meditations and receive a good bump to Neomuna reputation.
