Diablo 4 has continued to push out content and major updates after the game’s initial launch. Before the year wraps up, Diablo 4 players still have the Midwinter Blight event, which will boast time-limited bosses, rewards, and world events.
Season of Blood is still going strong with much more left to explore in the Vampire-themed update. Alongside this, Diablo 4’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, will also launch sometime in 2024. Before we get to the expansion or next season, we first need to square off against a demonic Santa in the Midwinter Blight. Below is everything you need to know about Diablo‘s first ever holiday event.
Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight start and end dates
The Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight event begins on Dec. 12, 2023. Players will have a few weeks to explore the snowy version of the Fractured Peaks and take on the new, holiday-themed enemies of Midwinter. The devs stated in their most recent Campfire Chat that the event will run “through the holidays,” which means the event should last for at least two weeks, and could run until early January 2024.
Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight winter event, explained
The Midwinter Blight will transform the Fractured Peaks region into a snowy hellscape, including the hub city of Kyovashad, thanks to a horrific snow storm. In Kyovashad, players will met with a new character named Gillian, a bard trying to rally the spirits of the people, and will be sent into the Peaks to fight a new enemy known as the Red Cloak Horror.
You can then explore the transformed regions and take on the Red Cloak Horror’s minions that will inhabit this frosted landscape. The devs have stated that the Red Cloak Horror himself, who looks like demonic reindeer, will pop into different world activities occasionally. The event activities will likely include taking down the Red Cloak Horror’s minions, saving civilians, and of course wiping out waves of enemies.
Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight rewards
By completing some of the above challenges and objectives during the Midwinter Blight event, you can earn trophies from the Red Cloak Horror’s minions and take them back to Kyovashad to exchange for some cosmetics.
Players will have the opportunity to earn backpacks, weapon skins, armor skins, gem fragments, a new seasonal aspect, and a special limited-time elixir that grants a 10 percent XP boost, even when outside of the Fractured Peaks. These items will also persist after the event ends, but they can only be collected during Midwinter Blight.
We still have much to learn about this event after it officially launches on Dec. 12.
