In the Season of the Infernal Horde in Diablo 4, the new questline introduces you to a new NPC, Istel, usually located in the same spot. However, things change slightly in the final quest, as a sort of hide-and-seek game is triggered.

The main task in The Wages of Hatred quest is to locate Istel in Zarbinet, though the area provided to search covers the whole town. To make things easier, we’ve simplified the process below.

Istel is located on the eastern side of Zarbinet. There are two ways of locating her quickly. The first method is to travel east from the Zarbinet Town Portal. Istel is found on the corner of the road by an entrance to the town.

Alternatively, head northeast from the Blacksmith. Istel is located almost directly behind the Blacksmith, making it another easy way to locate her. If you’re already in town and struggling to find her, use this method, but if you fast-travel to town, use the previous method instead.

Speaking to Istel initiates the final section of the quest. Return to Istel’s usual location (where you turn in Mother’s Gifts for rewards) and read Istel’s Grimoire on a nearby table. Reading the Grimoire completes the quest and the season five questline.

It’s not the end of the road, however, as you continue to collect Mother’s Gifts for rewards throughout the season and can also tackle the Infernal Hordes.
