The Royal Winter Star Path has many duties you can complete for tokens that allow you to buy special rewards in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One such duty is to catch a deeply musical fish. But what is it, where do you find it, and how do you catch it?
What is a deeply musical fish in Disney Dreamlight Valley
In Disney Dreamlight Valley, the Bass is the deeply musical fish you must catch for the Royal Winter Star Path task, ‘Fish for a Deeply Musical Fish.’
There are many different kinds of fish around Dreamlight Valley and in the Eternity Isle, each with unique conditions to watch out for. Even though Bass is a common fish in Disney Dreamlight Valley, catching it can be tricky if you don’t know where to find it.
Where to catch Bass in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Bass can be caught in specific Dreamlight Valley biomes and Eternity Isle biomes—the Eternity Isle is the realm added in the A Rift in Time expansion.
In Dreamlight Valley, you can fish for Bass in the following four biomes:
- Peaceful Meadow—You can unlock this area by clearing the rocks using your pickaxe.
- Forest of Valor—This biome can be unlocked by spending 3,000 Dreamlight.
- Frosted Heights— This biome can be unlocked by spending 10,000 Dreamlight. However, you must unlock the Forest of Valor to get to the Frosted Heights.
- Sunlit Plateau—This biome can be unlocked by spending 7,000 Dreamlight.
Eternity Isle biomes cost Mist to unlock, and Dreamlight Valley biomes cost Dreamlight to unlock. You can obtain each currency by performing separate ‘duties’ in the two realms.
If you have the A Rift in Time expansion, there are five locations in the Eternity Isle where you can fish to catch Bass:
- Glittering Dunes
- The Oasis— This biome can be unlocked by spending 6,000 Mist. However, you must also repair the bridge that connects Ancient’s Landing with the Glittering Dunes and the Wild Tangle, which costs 2,000 Mist.
- Wild Tangle
- The Grasslands—Once you’ve repaired the bridge, you will gain access to this area.
- The Grove—This biome costs 4,000 Mist to unlock.
- The Promenade—This biome costs 6,000 Mist to unlock.
- The Lagoon—This biome costs 10,000 Mist to unlock.
Now that you know which fish you need to catch and where to find it, you simply need to catch it.
How to catch Bass in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To catch Bass in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you need two things:
- A Fishing Pole—This is the Royal Tool you obtain from Merlin during the quest, The Royal Tools, and is pieced together during Goofy’s quest, Fishing Expedition.
- A Bass-filled location.
With your Fishing Pole in hand, you can head to any location where Bass can be found and fish for it in open waters. The issue with fishing for Bass in open waters is that you aren’t guaranteed to get Bass every time—you may also catch other items like Seaweed, which is excellent for feeding the Turtles; it can be used in Sushi recipes or refined into Fiber.
You can also fish for Bass in the ‘white ripples.’ But, again, you aren’t guaranteed to catch Bass from these pools every time. By fishing in these ‘white ripples,’ you will catch other fish you can use in different recipes or as gifts. So, if you don’t need Seaweed or you need to complete a duty requiring you to catch any fish, this is a good option.
How to fish and use your fishing pole in Disney Dreamlight Valley
If you’re new to Disney Dreamlight Valley or aren’t confident in your fishing skills, catching fish, especially common ones like Bass, can be easy if you follow these steps:
- Equip your Fishing Pole from your Royal Tools. The controls differ depending on your platform.
- Xbox and PlayStation: Press ‘RT’ to open your Royal Tools and select the fishing pole.
- Nintendo Switch: Press ‘ZR’ to open your Royal Tools and select the fishing pole.
- PC: Press ‘tab’ to open your Royal Tools and select the fishing pole.
- Throw out your line.
- Wait for the fish to bite. Once a fish bites, you will see a stationary white circle and a white moving ring.
- To successfully reel in a fish, you must wait until the moving white ring is inside the stationary white circle before pressing ‘use.’ The controls for using your fishing pole are different for each platform but are as follows:
- Xbox and PlayStation: Press ‘X’
- Nintendo Switch: Press ‘Y’
- PC: ‘Right-click’ your mouse or press the ‘spacebar.’
- If you’ve ‘reeled’ in your fish successfully, the circle will flash green; if not, it will turn red, and you can try again.
- Depending on whether you’re fishing out in the open waters or a colored pool will determine how many times you need to reel in your fish before you catch it. In the open waters, you only need to reel it in once to catch your fish successfully, and in the white ripples, you need to complete this maneuver twice.
And that’s it! Fishing takes equal parts precision and patience, but once you know how to use your fishing pole and how to successfully ‘reel in’ your line, you’ll be a pro angler in no time, which means you can complete the ‘Fish for a Deeply Musical Fish’ task with ease.
How to complete the ‘Fish for a Deeply Musical Fish’ task
To complete the ‘Fish for a Deeply Musical Fish’ task in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Royal Winter Star Path, you simply need to catch 10 Bass fish.
These 10 Bass must be freshly caught. This means the fish you have lying around in a chest or collected from Moana’s boat won’t count towards this Royal Winter Star Path duty.
Once you’ve caught 10 Bass, you need to:
- Open the Menu and navigate to your Events tab
- Locate the Royal Winter Star Path duties
- Claim the ‘Fish for a Depply Musical Fish’ duty and collect your 10 crowns!
You can redeem these crowns for rewards like clothing or villager outfits from the rewards section.
Finding and fishing for Bass is easy once you get the hang of it. And if you’re new to Disney Dreamlight Valley, you can still complete this task without unlocking these costly biomes or buying the A Rift in Time expansion.
But this is everything you need to know about what a deeply musical fish is and where to find it in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
