A once-bright star of CIS Dota is officially taking some time to lick its wounds.
Virtus Pro, once home to two promising Dota squads is now only home to a partial team after dissolving its “classic” roster. The news puts Stanislav “Bzz” Glushan, Sergey “God” Bragin, Vadim “Sedoy” Musorin, Vladimir “Yol” Basov, and Egor “JOTM” Surkov in free agency after the fivesome showed “insufficient improvement,” according to a statement from Global Team Manager Sergey Pisotsky.
The announcement caps off a disappointing week for Virtus Pro fans who have seen their favorite organization picked clean by roster movement. Virtus Pro Polar AKA “ASUS Polar,” saw the departure of off-laner Andrew “Mag” Chipenko just three days ago.
But this move pails in comparison to the departure of promising mid-laner Alexander “DkPhobos” Kucheria, who single-handedly saw the team to victory on numerous occasions. The Ukranian now plies his trade with CIS rival Natus Vincere, the squad that kicked ASUS Polar captain Artem “FNG” Barshak from its ranks after a series of poor placements.
What will become of the five dismissed players and three-fifths of a squad that remain is still to be seen. However, with Chinese sides quickly closing ranks and European sides gaining ground in a hurry, time is not on Virtus Pro’s side if it hopes to return to The International in August.
