Like in every open-world game, characters have limited carry capacity in Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, there is a way to increase it, which will be more than helpful in your adventure.
Each character has a different carry capacity depending on their Vocation. Naturally, if you’re a Warrior, you’re going to be able to carry more, though your gear and weapons will also weigh more. With the lack of traditional fast travel—which is limited to using rare Ferrystones—you’re forced to manage your items more carefully.
Increasing carry capacity is one of the most pivotal things you can do in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so here’s how.
Ways to increase carry capacity in Dragon’s Dogma 2
There is only one way we discovered to increase the carry capacity itself, but we’ve also come across a few things that can also be helpful.
Collect Golden Trove Beetles
Throughout your journey, you will come across Golden Trove Beetles, which increase your carry capacity by 0.15 kilograms each. You can use them on your main character, and it will increase its and your Pawn’s ability to carry more stuff.
One of the easiest and most consistent ways to increase your carry capacity in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is to find Golden Trove Beetles littered around the RPG. They are quite literally big, gold beetles located on trees. Each time you find one, you can use it from your inventory, and it will automatically add 0.15 kg to your overall carry capacity.
If you wait until it gets close to nightfall, the bright gold color of the Golden Trove Beetle is far more illuminated, making them much easier to spot at night.
Upgrade your gear
Upgrading your gear in cities will greatly help you with carry capacity since doing so lowers the weight of your armor pieces and weapons. However, upgrading gear requires a lot of gold and some materials that are found in the wild or looted from monsters, so make sure you’re fully stocked before checking whether you can upgrade.
Store materials in the Storage
We know this might sound a bit obvious since who wouldn’t think about storing stuff in Storage? But, it turns out, the materials you have in the Storage are still available to use when you’re upgrading your gear. Therefore, it’s best to head over to an innkeeper or your house to leave any unwanted ingredients you’ve been carrying each time you enter a city since you can still use them when crafting new upgrades.
Rings
The main Ring I found can also be acquired early on in DD2, and it’s the Ring of Accrual. You can buy it from Bjorn’s Armor in Vernworth, and it will set you back 6500G—which can be expensive when you first come across it. If you don’t have the cash or enough gear to sell by the time you get to Vernworth, you can always come back later to acquire it.
Once you can obtain and equip it, it will have a useful benefit for you: “Slightly increases the maximum amount of weight that the wearer can carry.”
Augments
Augments are useful skills that can make significant changes to many aspects of your character and adventure. While it helps to know all Dragon’s Dogma 2 Augments, a specific one can assist with our carry weight dilemma.
Thew is what you’re looking for, as it “allows you to carry additional weight.” It’s a Fighter Vocation, and you need to reach Level 6 in it to earn Thews—and there ways to reach maximum rank in a Vocation fast.
Inns
The first of our two additional methods to balance the bulky books is to ensure you take advantage of Inns. Whichever Inn you go to, you can drop stuff off by speaking to the Innkeeper, storing anything you want there. So, if you have some materials or items you need for later on, store them at an Inn, free up space in the present, and reacquire them later when the time is right.
Pawns
Finally, our beloved Pawns are also another solid option you shouldn’t forget. After all, they are here for you and will do anything and everything to help and serve you. So don’t feel bad for dumping an inordinate amount of your inventory in theirs to lessen your load. It won’t give them a case of Dragonsplague illness or anything, so don’t feel bad!
How to increase max inventory size in Dragon’s Dogma 2
We’ve found several effective methods you can employ to increase your max carry capacity in Dragon’s Dogma 2: use Golden Trove Beetles, find special rings, and unlock Augments.
In addition to these physical adjustments to your max carry capacity, you can also distribute the workload and free up your inventory by storing items at Inns and giving gear to your Pawns to hold.
