Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a habit of not telling you many things to do with its quest system, including some little hand symbols that can sometimes appear next to the quest’s text.
These Dragon’s Dogma 2 hand symbols, which can appear as blue and yellow/orange, pop up beside non-story quests. I struggled with it for over 50 hours until I finally bit the bullet and tried to mess around to see what happened. With that problem solved, I can finally pass on the knowledge to you so you can use the symbols to your advantage.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: What do the Quest symbols mean?
In Dragon’s Dogma 2, you can encounter three hand symbols besides quests: A yellow/orange hand with a number inside, a blue hand, and there can also be an hourglass symbol or no symbol at all.
Symbol | Symbol Description |
---|---|
Hourglass | The hourglass symbol means you are participating in a quest with a time limit. That means you must complete it quickly before it disappears. |
Blue Hand | A blue hand means your main Pawn has information about the quest. |
Orange/Yellow Hand with the Roman numeral “1” | The orange hand symbol means that a Pawn in your party has completed the quest before with another player and can help you complete it. The yellow number “1” inside the hand indicates your first Hired Pawn has quest information. |
Orange/Yellow Hand with the Roman numeral “2” | The orange hand symbol with “II” inside means your second Hired Pawn can give you tips on successfully finishing the mission. |
No hand or hourglass | If there’s no symbol beside your quest, none of your Pawns have any information. |
How to get a Pawn knowledgeable about the priority quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2
You can get a Pawn knowledgeable about your priority quests by filtering your search at a Riftstone and hiring a priority quest knowledgable Pawn. Find the closest Riftstone to your location, and once you’re there, follow these steps:
- In the Quest Log, set a quest as your “Priority Quest,” as this is the quest you’re completing and need help with.
- Interact with the Riftstone and examine it to open the menu.
- Choose Search for Pawn.
- Select the Advanced Pawn Search.
- Tick the “Quest Knowledge” box (this will filter available Pawns based on their quest knowledge).
- Press the Enter key.
- Hire a knowledgeable Pawn with RC.
When you prioritize a quest, a Pawn tells you about a hint related to the quest. Then, by pressing the Go command once, they run off toward the quest location when they ask if you want to be shown the way. If you hit the Go command again, whatever they were doing is canceled. Of course, if your Pawns can’t help you out on a given quest, you can always just give them a quest of their own or hire new ones who can.
