FromSoftware just dropped a new Elden Ring patch with a whole host of balance changes across the board. Unlike most patches, 1.13 buffs plenty of tools in your arsenal, including Weapons, Spells, Incantations, Ashes of War, and Spirit Summons—while nerfing the biggest offenders.

Impenetrable Thorns, which quickly became one of the strongest spells in the game after it was introduced via Shadow of the Erdtree, received a much-needed nerf. Likewise, Miriam’s Vanishing and Knight’s Lightning Spear had their damage reduced in PvP, but their PvE prowess is here to stay.

On the buffs front, there’s a large list of changes. If you felt your fully upgraded summoned Spirit Ashes weren’t strong enough to deal with the chonky DLC bosses, Elden Ring Patch 1.13 buffs almost all of them with stagger resistance, increased HP, and improved attack power—except for the Mimic Tear. Additionally, several Shadow of the Erdtree-exclusive NPC summons, like Needle Knight Leda, Pureblood Knight Ansbach, and Thiollier, should also perform their wingman duty much better now with their increased stats.

Strength-build enjoyers should be overjoyed with the Savage Lion’s Claw’s buff. The patch notes say: “The second hit of the follow-up attack is now easier to land.” On the Dex and Quality front, expect an easier time with the charge attack damage animation buff of Light Greatswords, especially if you swear by Milady.

The Faith-scaling Twinblade Euporia also sees a huge power-up with Patch 1.13:

  • Increased Holy damage when the weapon has its luster restored.
  • Decreased the number of attacks required to restore the weapon’s luster.
  • Increased the duration of the luster restoration effect.
