Like any good soulslike, Enotria: The Last Song is home to hidden quests, including Bargniff’s riddles in Litumnia. This giant bullfrog has quite a few head-scratchers for you, and every time you answer one of his questions, he teleports to another location in the city.
Bargniff can first be found at the Clocktower, one of the early locations in the city of Litumnia. He’ll ask you a series of mysterious questions, and for each one Bargniff asks, you’ll need to equip one of the game’s many Masks as a response. Here are the answers to all of Bargniff’s riddles in Enotria: The Last Song, as well as where to find him at each stage of the quest.
All answers to Bargniff’s questions in Enotria
Question one: Near the Clocktower knot
Bargniff’s first location is in the canal near the Clocktower knot at the entrance to the city of Litumnia. Speak to him, and he’ll ask you the following question:
- Question one: “Brains not brawn define you. You slice, you dice, but never flesh. Who are you?”
- Answer: Equip the Piercing Wit Mask.
The Piercing Wit Mask is one of the two Masks given to you at the start of the game during the tutorial, so it won’t require any work to equip this one. If you don’t already have it slotted in for one of your three loadouts, you’ll need to return to the nearby knot and select it.
After you’ve equipped the mask, speak to Bargniff again to answer the riddle. He’ll then teleport “deeper in the city” for the second riddle of the quest.
Question two: Near the Highborne Streets knot
To find Bargniff a second time, head to the Highborne Streets knot. From here, cross the bridge where an Automaton enemy stands before heading up a narrow staircase. You’ll then want to continue straight—do not take the larger staircase to your right. Eventually, you’ll run into a series of Highborne enemies, as well as an Ascendant. You can either run past or fight them to reach yet another staircase next to a waterfall.
Take this staircase, and you’ll see a second Automaton enemy. You’ll need to fight this one, then continue forward until you see a bridge over a small canal. Bargniff will flag you down when you cross it with a short line of dialogue. Look to your right, and you’ll find a small path to the side of the canal that you can take to reach the bullfrog.
After you reach him, he’ll ask the following question:
- Question two: “In ruby robes, you fervently implore, devotion unyielding, her voice you await. Who are you desperate one?”
- Answer: Equip Vermiglio’s Mask.
If you haven’t yet acquired Vermiglio’s Mask, you’ll need to return to Quinta. Vermiglio can be found in the dark, woody area after the fight with Curtis. After you’ve solved this riddle, Bargniff will then teleport once again, sending you on yet another wild goose chase through the streets of Litumnia.
Question three: Mines of Gratia
The third and final location for Bargniff is in the Mines of Gratia, where you fight the Master Gondolier. If you haven’t yet found this location, visit the Mines of Gratia knot, drop down the cliff, and head to the left. Travel up the stone path, and you’ll run into a few enemies. Take them out and keep moving forward, and you’ll come to an open area with a small body of water near it.
If you’ve defeated the Master Gondolier already, you can speak to Bargniff in peace. If not, you’ll need to take out this mini-boss before you can do so. When you do finally speak to Bargniff, he’ll ask the following question:
- Question 3: “Through winding waterways, your vessel glides, in a city of bridges, where secrets reside. Who are you?”
- Answer: Equip the Gondolier’s Mask.
The Gondolier’s Mask can be obtained by collecting 200 Gondolier’s Mask shards. As its name might suggest, these shards are dropped by Gondolier enemies. The best place to farm these shards is at the Liutmnia Docks, the first knot you would’ve encountered when you arrived in the region.
Once you’ve equipped the Gondolier’s Mask and spoken to Bargniff again, he’ll tell you simply to “proceed.” Though it’s not quite clear what this means at first, the boat next to him can now be interacted with, and it will take you to a hidden area.
