Fallout: London’s initial April release was derailed by the launch of the next-gen update for Fallout 4. Fortunately, it seems like the massive mod is once again ready to go.
On July 6, Team FOLON, creators of the Fallout: London mod, shared an update via X, saying that the mod is practically ready to go, with the developers waiting for a green light from GOG, who is helping with distribution. They also revealed that Fallout: London will receive its own installer and downgrader.
“We wanted to open up and clear the air for our core supporters. The bottom line is that we’ve sent several builds over to GOG for QA testing and we are waiting for the final green light. Once they’ve completed the process of double-checking that Fallout: London and its installer work on all supported machines, we should be good to go,” the message reads.
Fallout: London is one of the most ambitious mods in the history of Fallout 4 and the whole franchise. It provides an answer to a question Bethesda has yet to tackle: How would the post-apocalyptic capital of the U.K. and its inhabitants live after the nukes drop?
The mod was originally meant to release by the end of April, but Bethesda’s next-gen update to Fallout 4, which added some new quests and errands alongside a slight performance upgrade, caused serious compatibility issues with the project. In typical Bethesda fashion, though, the studio failed to communicate with Team FOLON, and therefore, the whole mod had to be reassessed following the update.
Massive Fallout mods have a history of fading away before their development is finished, with Nuevo Mexico and Fallout 4: New Vegas nowhere to be seen. But, when it comes to Fallout: London, it looks like it will actually see the daylight, and soon.
