Epic Games has dropped the latest v8.01 Fortnite update and the treasure hunt is on. The update sees the addition of a Buried Treasure map which reveals “a trove of Legendary loot.”
Players will have to loot chests around the map in hopes of finding the exclusive treasure map. The treasure map is just like any other item and will take up a spot in your inventory. However, players can only hold one treasure map at a time.
Once in their inventory, players will need to right click while holding the map. This will then display a red dotted line in the direction of the buried treasure.
Following the red dotted line, players will come across a gold glowing area which will be marked in the ground by a black X. Players will then have to use their pickaxe to dig up the treasure. Only the player holding the map can see the location of the chest.
Once the treasure chest has been looted, the map will disappear. Players will then have to continue looting to find another map and hunt down some more treasure.
The buried treasure chests include a bundle of loot such as chug jugs, legendary weapons, materials, and ammunition.
