Week 6 challenge of dealing damage with five different weapons is bugged in Fortnite, Epic says

You might want to try completing the challenge in a standard mode.

Week six of season seven in Fortnite: Battle Royale brought a new set of challenges for players to complete and earn Battle Stars. Pesky challenges like finding gnomes around the island and sliding a puck are giving players a hard time, but it’s really a third challenge that’s causing unintended trouble.

A few players who are trying to complete the challenge of dealing damage to opponents with five different weapons in a single match are experiencing issues. Instead of players being credited for every weapon they deal damage with, the game isn’t registering damage for a few weapons, apparently at random.

The intention is that if you deal damage with five weapons of different names, regardless if they’re from the same weapon category, you would be credited for each of them. So if your loadout is two different Pistols, two different Shotguns, and two different Assault Rifles, you should receive credit for six weapons instead of three for their categories.

But players have reported being unable to complete the challenge with similar loadouts. We played with the aforementioned loadout, and instead of getting three credits if the game was registering categories, or six if it was registering individual weapons, we got credit for four.

Epic said that this challenge is bugged. “The issue preventing players from getting credit for damaging enemies with five weapons in a single match seems to only be occurring in modes that allow respawns,” the company wrote. “This will be fixed in a future update.”

Epic advised players to try to complete the challenge in non-respawn game modes, which are modes in which players are out of the match once they die for the first time. At the time of writing, Disco Domination was the only mode with respawns, so players should avoid it to complete this challenge.

Epic has emphasized that not all players are being affected by this issue, but refrained from sharing if it found a pattern that’s causing it. Until then, players will have to take the hard path to deal damage with five weapons.
