Fortnite has now far and away surpassed the former king of battle royale, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, in terms of revenue and userbase across all platforms. Fortnite Mobile even hit the number one spot on the iOS chats in the U.S. in its launch month.

The most impressive data point from SuperData’s report is just how much money that Fortnite is managing to make. In March, Fortnite raked in $223 million across all platforms. SuperData says that the game’s release on mobile, combined with mainstream media coverage, a new Battle Pass, and the popular “John Wick” Reaper skin all undoubtedly contributed to the surge in revenue. March’s earnings were up by a whopping 73 percent from February. It’s also a huge plus that the game is available on just about any platform you can think of.

The game is completely free to play, and yet it made $223 million in one month. That number, more than anything, shows just how popular Fortnite truly is.

Epic Games has a success on its hands the likes of which hasn’t really been seen in recent memory in the industry. While Fortnite continues to rake in tons of money with in-game cosmetic microtransactions, Epic’s support of the title with consistent updates and additional content keeps players coming back for more.
