The Summer Open Season for HSEL will feature the world’s most popular game, starting with qualifiers that are now live. The grand champion of the tournament will receive two hours of playtime with Svennoss, currently ranked number one in Solo wins on PC, as well as a Respawn Gaming Chair and “HSEL swag.”

“With the explosive rise of Fortnite, and colleges starting to offer more and more scholarships, making it our Summer Open title was a no-brainer,” said Mason Mullenioux, CEO of High School Esports League. “So, being the first to offer Fortnite, plus working with NRG Esports and Svennoss, really takes things to the next level. We’re thrilled to continue to create more opportunity and value for the students.”

Fortnite is hugely popular with young gamers these days, so an event like this for HSEL makes a lot of sense. You’d be hard-pressed to find a high schooler who’s not enjoying Fortnite these days, and now this event will let them prove their mettle.

“We’re thrilled to team up with High School Esports League for the first-ever Fortnite tournament at the high school level,” said Brett Lautenbach, CEO of NRG. “These players are the future of professional esports and any chance we have to work with them to grow the sport is a top priority.”

Players can sign up for the event on the HSEL website. Qualifiers end on June 17, and players must be verified by June 15.
