The new Compact SMG was added into the game just yesterday, and players immediately realized how strong it was. The gun was incredibly powerful in close-range engagements and shredded wood structures with ease. Epic heard the feedback and reacted quickly, also changing up other SMGs, too.

“We’ve heard your feedback regarding SMGs and that they’re stronger than we would like at the moment,” Epic said on Reddit. “We agree and have just pushed a hotfix live adjusting these values bringing them more in line with where we want them.”

Both the regular SMG and Compact SMG have had their accuracy bonus reduced to 15 percent from 35 percent. On top of that, both the SMG and Compact SMG have seen damage nerfs—the SMG damage has been reduced to 17/18/19, while the Compact SMG’s damage has been dropped to 21/22.

Both guns have seen their fire rates reduced as well, along with damage falloff changes for the SMG, Compact SMG, and Silenced SMG. Rare SMGs and Compact SMGs have also seen a reduction in their drop rates.

The update is live now in Fortnite, so you can hop on the game yourself to see how SMGs feel.
