Fortnite‘s 6.30 update brings the long-waited food truck war.
Food Fight Limited Time Mode features a new way of playing Fortnite. Players will either represent team Pizza Pit or team Durrr Burger to protect their own restaurant mascots, Tomatohead and Durrr Burger.
These two teams will be separated by a wall for several minutes. They have to build structures to protect their mascot before the wall is down and the opposing team can attack it. The team that destroys the opponent’s mascot first wins the match. A true culinary war.
Players can re-spawn in the Food Fight mode, and all explosive weapons are disabled.
Along with the Food Fight Limited time mode, Epic also added a new solo event called Scavenger Pop-Up Cup. The developer said these cups will be used to test new limited time modes. “Scavenger will test several gameplay adjustments—reduced material limit, faster material harvesting, and earning health for eliminations,” Epic wrote.
In the gun department, the Mounted Turret is finally here. It is a legendary weapon that fills a trap slot in the player’s inventory and, like any trap in Fortnite, can be destroyed by shooting its base. Any player can mount on it once it’s placed. Players can found the Mounted Turret in Floor Loot, Supply Drops, Vending Machines, and Supply Llamas.
The only weapon that received a change was the player’s Pickaxe, which now deals 20 damage to players instead of 10.
No weapons or items were vaulted in Fortnite’s 6.30 update.
The 6.30 update disables the glider re-deploy feature on default modes. Players are no longer able to activate their gliders again when falling from great heights, which means things like fall damage and structure height matter again. The items Jump Pad and Rift-to-Go, like regular rifts, are the only items that allow players to reactivate their gliders now. Players can also inflate balloons when falling to decrease their fall speed or keep soaring, but they won’t activate their glider.
The forced glider deploy height has also been increased from 15.5 meters to 35 meters, which means players will now take a bit longer to hit the ground when doing so.
Fortnite developer Epic Games also made a series of improvements to performance, audio, and gameplay. This includes fixing bugs, showing damage numbers in the starting island before matches, and adding more options to gamepad bindings. The mobile version of Fortnite also received several tweaks.
