Fortnite: Battle Royale’s v8.10 patch notes are already live. Players will now see the newest vehicle, The Baller, and an overhauled system for vending machines, in action as soon as the servers are back online later today.
All Fortnite servers will go down at 4 am CT to deploy the update. That’s the period when players will be able to download the updated files of v8.10 and get the game ready for when servers are back online.
The patch notes have been released and also reveal a huge list of bug fixes, the return of the Getaway Limited Time Mode, and a new $100,000 tournament in the Events tab.
Here are the v8.10 patch highlights.
The Baller
Players who use the latest Fortnite vehicle The Baller will be vulnerable to enemy fire. It can only hold a single player, and it has 300 health before it’s destroyed. Players can use its attached Grappler for movement and to swing through trees.
The Baller can be found in Expedition Outposts and around pirate camp loot stashes.
Vending Machine overhaul
Fortnite’s Vending Machines now work differently. Instead of providing infinite items as long as a player paid for them, the material costs of all three choices has been set to zero, but the Vending Machine can only be used once before it disappears. From now on, only Rare, Epic, and Legendary Vending Machines will be found in the island.
Weapon changes
The Common Infantry Rifle is now vaulted, while Uncommon and Rare variants are staying in the game. The Heavy Assault Rifles are having their rarities adjusted to Common, Uncommon, and Rare with their base damage tuned down to 36/38/40 respectively, from Rare/Epic/Legendary variants that used to deal 44/46/48 damage.
Return of Getaway Limited Time Mode
The Getaway Limited Time Mode is back to Fortnite after being last seen at the end of season five in early September 2018. Players will “race to find a Jewel and take it to a getaway van before everyone else to win the match.” Several adjustments in supply drops and item availability have been made to this mode, and all details are available in the patch notes.
New tournament with prize money
The Scallywag Duos Tournament will award $100,000 in prize money in a Duos cup on March 16 and 17. Epic Games said more details will be given out this week and that this tournament was developed to test the prize payment systems leading up to the Fortnite World Cup.
