Pro players aren’t happy with Season 8 Fortnite changes ahead of $500K Katowice tournament

Fortnite Season 8 has officially arrived and some of the pro players competing in tomorrow’s ESL Katowice Royale tournament are not happy.

Major Fortnite tournaments and patch changes seemly now come hand-in-hand—Epic Games has released game-changing patches before each major recent tournament. Notably, before the Winter Skirmish tournament, in which the overpowered Infinity Sword became a controversial weapon due to its mobility.

The ESL Katowice Royale tournament will run from March 1 to 3, with a mixture of solo and duo tournaments. With the new Fortnite season arriving less than 24 hours before the start, players have little time to adjust to their new surroundings.

Team Liquid’s Jake “Poach” Brumleve shared his disappointment that his favorite drop had been removed. Poach has been dropping at the containers area of the map regularly at previous tournaments.  

Poach is not the only Team Liquid player who has lost their favorite drop. Thomas “72hrs” Mulligan, who is infamous for dropping in Walling Woods, tweeted out his comical frustration.

Ghost Gaming’s Dylan “Dmo” Moore joked that playing Sea of Thieves had been part of his preparations for the latest pirate inspired updated.

TSM’s Ali “Myth” Kabbani was happy that there were no changes to his main drop. Myth will be teaming up with “Cloud” for the duos tournament, who was recently signed for TSM’s Fortntie Jr team.

ESL Katowice Royale kicks off tomorrow on the ESL Fortnite Twitch channel starting at 5am CT.
