The brief appearance of a rocket engine on Fortnite’s map has amped up speculation on what the game’s next season might bring.
Fortnite season four comes to an end on July 12. With all the buildup and teases for the potential rocket launch throughout the season, players are expecting more changes to the map for the coming season. With season four, meteors crashed down creating massive craters and taking out some existing buildings.
When the most recent update went live this week, one player found something on the map that wasn’t there before.
The player found what looks like a rocket engine stuck into the ground in Anarchy Acres. The engine was quickly removed, about 20 minutes after the update—which makes it very clear it wasn’t supposed to be there, yet.
When considered alongside leaked audio files that suggest the rocket will be launched, it looks like the rocket’s engines will come crashing back to earth—or maybe the whole rocket will? Anarchy Acres was left unscathed by the meteors in season four, but it looks like the farm won’t be as lucky this time.
It’s less than two weeks until the season ends and we find out exactly what all of this means. Until then, keep working on that Battle Pass—if you don’t reach level 100, you won’t get that Omega skin to keep forever. As with most seasonal items, once it’s gone it’s gone.
