The new Call of Duty competitive circuit kicks off today with an incredibly important round of qualifiers.
The Call of Duty World League opens with their North American Pro Division Qualifying Invitational Tournament today, an event that will take 16 teams and weed them down to the eight that will compete in the inaugural season of Activision’s new esports league.

The event, hosted in Burbank, Calif., features all the top teams competing in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 so far—CompLexity Gaming, the new Counter Logic Gaming, FaZe Clan, Enigma 6, Luminosity Gaming, Team EnVyUs, Team eLevate, the Game Awards’ esports team of the year, OpTic Gaming, and more.
Teams are split into four groups of four and will play an elimination style bracket: Win two matches and you qualify, lose two matches and you’re eliminated.
Group A is already underway, with Apotheon Esports knocking Enigma 6 to the lower bracket with a 3-0 score. OpTic Gaming is currently playing Orbit while the rest of the field looks on.
Each of the three rounds of the event takes place on each of the next three days, meaning we won’t find out just who qualifies until Sunday. But even without any teams suffering elimination today, there will be some tough matches. For example, EnVyUs, featuring some of Black Ops 2’s greatest players, Patrick “ACHES” Price and Tyler “Teepee” Polchow, will face off against Counter Logic Gaming later today at 7:30pm ET.
All matches are being broadcast on the official Call of Duty Twitch channel.
