The Crown Championship is Supercell’s first competitive season for mobile game Clash Royale. The spring season will kick off on May 11 with a series of open play tournaments in the Clash Royale app. Any player level 8 and above will be able to enter, and Supercell says that makes it the most accessible esports event in existence.

Up to a million players will be able to enter the open play tournament, with thousands of players moving on to the bracket stage. Eventually, the pool will be knocked down to eight players who will battle for the entire month of June to see who makes it to the Spring Finals.

At the end of 2017, qualifying players will participate in the Global Finals in London.

In early April, Clash Royale won the esports audience award at the video game BAFTA Awards, beating out high profile games like League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Dota 2, and Street Fighter V.

Registration for the tournament is open on the Clash Royale website. Though there are a million spots open, you’ll want to act fast to secure yourself a slot. One of the most-downloaded mobile games, Clash Royale has a massive player base. But will it stand out as an esport? It’s yet to prove itself in that regard, despite the BAFTA win.
