Cyberpunk 2077 returns to PlayStation store

But there are still some performance problems with the PS4 edition, CD Projekt Red admitted.

Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red’s shooter that was released last year, returned to Sony’s PlayStation store today, more than six months after it was removed. The game, though, is coming back to the PlayStation store with a big warning for PS4 owners.

“Users may continue to experience some performance issues with the PS4 edition while we continue to improve stability across all platforms,” the warning from CD Projekt Red reads. “The PS4 Pro and PS5 versions of the game will provide the best experience on PlayStation.”

Sony’s listing for Cyberpunk 2077, on the other hand, features a similar warning, but it goes further and practically tries to dissuade PS4 owners from purchasing the open-world, action-adventure game. “Purchase for use on PS4 systems is not recommended,” Sony’s listing reads. “For the best Cyberpunk experience on PlayStation, play on PS4 Pro and PS5 systems.”

Cyberpunk 2077 launched in December 2020 with serious technical problems on PS4 and Xbox One consoles. There were multiple glitches and bugs across all platforms (PC and new-gen consoles), but the most severe were found on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Sony pulled Cyberpunk 2077 from its store entirely three days after release and offered a full refund to players who purchased the game digitally and were unhappy with its performance on PS4 or PS5. It was one of the massive blows suffered by CD Projekt Red, whose market shares dropped considerably due to the messy release.

The devs have been gradually patching many of the early Cyberpunk 2077 issues, but it’s unclear whether the game will ever be playable for PS4 and Xbox One. A free next-gen upgrade will be available  in the second half of 2021, with more fixes planned throughout the year.
