Despite struggling in the European division of the Heroes Global Championship, Team Dignitas once again came good on the international stage.

The veteran team came from the lower bracket to take home the title at the HGC Western Clash, held at IEM Katowice this weekend.

The tournament featured the top three teams from the European and North American divisions, as well as a team from Latin America and Australia, in a double elimination bracket with a $100,000 prizepool.

Dignitas, who reached the final of the 2015 World Championship, are only third in the European Pro League—but they bested both of their rivals en route to the title in Katowice.

After a 3-0 loss to Misfits in the semifinals Dignitas dropped to the lower bracket, with Fnatic and Misfits completing the upper bracket final to ensure a lockout of the top three for Europe. Dignitas overcame Misfits in a five game rematch to head to the grand final against Fnatic.

In the final it was another five game marathon for Dignitas, who had to play 13 straight games on their path to victory. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead, Fnatic battled back to 2-2, but Dignitas were able to close it out on Dragon Shire.

With the win, Dignitas reminded everyone that in Heroes of the Storm, the team led by James “Bakery” Baker is a dynasty. They are the only team to have been at every major Blizzard championship since the first world championship at Blizzcon 2015. In June they will have a chance to do that again, if they can qualify for the Mid-Season Brawl and test themselves against sides from around the world.
