Closing out a game of Dota 2 is a lot of work. Doing it alone is a lot more. But if there’s one hero for the job, it’s Meepo.
For most carries, no matter how powerful, engaging an enemy team with no support is a suicide mission. But even with teammates on the sidelines and a potent lineup to deal with, the salty Geomancer showcases his incredible capabilities in this video:
For Dota newbies, it’s important to understand that all of those little hooded heroes you see running around the base are, in fact, one hero. Thanks to Meepo’s ultimate, Divided We Stand, and an upgrade from his Aghanim’s Scepter, one player is controlling five different characters at once.
To make things even more difficult, each of these Meepos is inextricably linked. If one gains experience, they all do. But more importantly, if any of them dies, they all do.
However, as they say, there is strength in numbers. Meepo also uses an ability called Poof, which allows one Meepo to teleport to another, dealing damage at both the source and destination. Combined with Earthbind—the nets you see thrown about with impunity—our magnanimous hero can quickly lock down, then burst down all comers.
But the coup de grace of the play seen above is not Meepo’s indiscriminate slaying of his opponents, nor the foresight required to give him and his buddies an extra life with the Aegis of the Immortal.
With a few more hits needed to finish off the Throne, Meepo expertly juggles the use of Earthbind between each of his five clones. Since Earthbind targets an area of the ground, and his opponents are close together, Meepo can essentially bind his opponents ad infinitum as they helplessly watch their Throne fall. Who needs a team when you have one of your own?
