Devolver Digital revealed that it will be publishing Metal Wolf Chaos as Metal Wolf Chaos XD for the first time in the west tonight during its pre-recorded E3 2018 conference.
This new “modernized” version of the classic mech shooter will feature updated visuals, refined gameplay, and support for 16:9 4K displays on all platforms. It’s great news for fans, who have been clamoring for an official English release for quite some time now.
Metal Wolf Chaos isn’t a new game, by any means. Originally released on Xbox in 2004, it’s become something of a meme in the gaming community. Players take on the role of Michael Wilson, the 47th President of the United States, after a coup d’etat led by his vice president, Richard Hawk.
It’s a presidential showdown as Wilson makes his way across the control in an enormous mech called Metal Wolf in a bid to remove Hawk from power. Imagine if we had this sort of political nonsense going on in real life. Hey, it’s not too far out of the realm of possibility.

The title is often considered to be ridiculously cheesy, and that’s why it’s managed to garner such a massive cult following, both in terms of its patriotism and over-the-top voice acting.
The game is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, later this year. You can head to MechAmericaGreatAgain.com for additional information—and yes, Devolver Digital knows exactly what it’s doing with that URL, you can be sure of that.
