Luis “peacemaker” Tadeu has joined OpTic Gaming as the head coach of their Counter-Strike team.
The news was first rumored on Reddit, as /u/btk150 took a screenshot from Epitácio “TACO” de Melo’s Instagram story, showing the scoreboard of a scrimmage between SK Gaming and OpTic where peacemaker was slotted as OpTic’s coach.
Peacemaker is well known for his time with Tempo Storm, coaching the eventual Immortals team until May of last year. After coaching his fellow Brazilians to a second place finish at DreamHack Austin, peacemaker left to coach Team Liquid. As a part of Liquid, the team was able to secure a second place finish at ESL One Cologne major and a third place finish at ESL One New York. Departing from Liquid in October, peacemaker has only briefly coached NRG before abruptly splitting and taking an extended break.
The first test for peacemaker and OpTic will come on Feb. 15, where they will have to fight out of a group that includes North, compLexity, and ELEAGUE major champions, Astralis.
OpTic Gaming has not yet confirmed this acquisition.
