A video game based on an established IP is usually a fun prospect, especially if the original creators of that IP get involved in some way.

According to a new report from IGN, the Halloween franchise will be getting not one, but two games in the future. While not much was revealed about what these games would be about or how exactly they would play, the report detailed that those who do play the game will be able to relive some of their favorite moments from the franchise. Considering how long and influential the Halloween franchise is, with the most recently entry coming out less that two years ago, there is definitely a lot of material to pull from when it comes to iconic moments.

Both games are in development from Boss Team Games, known for developing the asymmetrical multiplayer game Evil Dead: The Game, which let gamers play as either Ash Williams and his allies or as a Kandarian Demon, battling it out against each other in locations based on the movies. One of those games will be developed with Unreal Engine 5, but it’s unclear which engine the other game will use. But what makes the prospect of these two Halloween games interesting is that John Carpenter, the director of the original 1978 classic, will be involved in production.

In the report, Carpenter said that he was excited to join the project since he is a “huge gamer,” and that he hopes to “scare you silly” with these new games.

While Carpenter hasn’t been in the director’s chair for quite some time, he is still involved with the Halloween franchise, serving as executive producer for the most recent film trilogy. This is also not Carpenter’s first foray into video games, as he is also the creator of the upcoming zombie shooter Toxic Commando. All these elements mixed together should make horror game fans very excited.
