Football season is almost here, and that means NFL and other football games coming out in the next few weeks.
While many have already dipping their toes into EA Sports College Football 25, as well as waiting for the upcoming Madden NFL 25, a surprising new competitor will be entering the ring soon. Ubisoft announced today they are teaming up with the NFL for a new mobile game called NFL Primetime Fantasy. The free-to-play game will allow players to collect virtual cards of their favorite players and teams and build the roster of their dreams.
However, the game also advertises itself as a real-time strategy game that doesn’t lock users into a certain team on game day. If a player on your roster isn’t performing to your liking, you can swap them out and replace them with someone on your bench to improve your odds. NFL Primetime Fantasy will also make use of stat modifiers users can give to players they believe are going to perform specific actions during a game to get more points.
It’s certainly a unique take on the fantasy football genre, made even more interesting by the fact that it’s being published by Ubisoft. While it’s not uncommon for the company to make licensed games, like Star Wars Outlaws or Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, an official licensed NFL game is something you would normally expect from Electronic Arts.
There is no official release date for NFL Primetime Fantasy, but pre-registration is open for those who want to participate in the beta, with the promise of in-game rewards free at launch for the beta testers.
