Ahead of today’s card reveal livestream, three more class cards from Hearthstone’s newest expansion have been revealed.
Knights of the Frozen Throne will add 135 new cards to the game—with more than 100 yet to be revealed, the cards continue to be unveiled. This time, new class cards for Warlock, Warrior and Paladin have been shown off.
This new one-drop minion for Warlock has a pretty weak stat line of its own—but when played alongside something else this could be insane.
Obviously this lends itself to a minion-focused deck, with deathrattle cards that it would be of benefit to destroy. The obvious one that comes to mind is Possessed Villager. A turn one with the coin of a 1/1 and a 3/3 sounds pretty strong.
Warrior also gets a one drop—but this one has a slightly better stat line and a totally different strategy.
On the face of it, a one mana 1/3 has typically needed a very good effect to be viable. Mana Wyrm is the prime example. Even a 2/3 won’t see play if the drawback is too bad, like Emerald Hive Queen. So the idea of playing this in an aggressive Warrior doesn’t sound great.
However, imagine some of the positive implications of the effect. Play this before you play Frothing Berserker, and it immediately gets a buff. Same with Acolyte of Pain. This is definitely a card players will experiment with.
Unconfirmed reports say that Howling Commander’s original text was “Draw a Tirion from your deck”. Because let’s face it, that’s what this card is for. For that reason, that stat line is pretty bad. But the ability to draw a Tirion from your deck is pretty strong, so expect to see this in slower Paladin lists.
